Many people associate negative connotations with the word diet. Adjusting to a new diet isn’t always easy, but it shouldn’t feel like punishment!
I’ve outlined the best weight loss diet below. It is extremely effective and enjoyable. This diet isn’t only the best weight loss diet out there, but it is also great for improving your long-term health.

The Paleo diet is designed to mimic what our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate – lean meats, fibrous vegetables, nuts and seeds, and some fruits. Fortunately for us, we don’t have to chase down our dinner (although that would be a pretty good workout!). We are mimicking an ancient diet in a modern society. Obviously, we will make additions to the diet that our ancestors didn’t have the luxury of enjoying.

The Paleo diet works with your genetics to help you get lean, strong, and energetic. Scientific research indicates that our modern diet is the culprit for the degenerative diseases that plague our society (obesity, heart disease, cancer, depression, and infertility to name a few).

Paleo Diet Guidelines

The Paleo diet can be easily modified to suit your fitness needs. With the goal of fast weight loss in mind, we will structure our meals in this fashion:
- Eat 4-8 oz of lean protein (chicken, lean beef, turkey, seafood, or pork loin).
- Include several servings of vegetables (raw, steamed, or lightly cooked).
- Add some good fats to the meal (olive oil, avocado, almonds, pecans, or walnuts)
- Eat this way 3-4 times a day.
This structure looks rather bland, but with the addition of herbs and spices, any meal can be made delicious. If you are like me, you’d rather not go through the trouble of inventing your own recipes. I’ve included a list of the best weight loss recipes that are Paleo friendly in another post for your convenience.
Note: Fruit is allowed on the Paleo diet, but our goal is to lose fat fast! If you must include fruit, limit your intake to 1-2 servings per day, and stick to berries. I recommend eliminating fruit for the next 2 weeks to maximize your fat loss.
A Day Of Paleo: The Best Weight Loss Diet Outlined
I will outline my typical day to help you create your own eating plan for the week.
I work in a brewery 10 hours a day for 4 days a week. I am literally always busy at work and have about 20 minutes of downtime spread thinly throughout my day. In order to stick to my eating plan, I prepare my meals in advance (except breakfast which I cook every morning).
Meal #1
- 3-4 eggs
- 4 slices of bacon
- Handfull of diced onion, peppers, mushrooms, and spinach
Meal #2
- 6oz grilled chicken breast (I like Mrs. Dash no-salt seasoning)
- 4 cups spinach
- 8-10 cherry tomatoes
- small handfull of walnuts
- olive oil and vinegar for dressing
Meal #3
- 8oz roast beef (cooked in Crock Pot)
- Grilled asparagus
Meal #4
- Paleo meatballs (See Recipe Page)
- Steamed broccoli
Pretty simple, huh? I typically eat the same breakfast every day and a salad every day as well. To add variety, I’ll mix up the dressings and ingredients in my salad, but I never get tired of my omelets. Using different spices adds a bunch of variety to the mix. Have you ever tried cumin on your eggs? How about turmeric? Both are extremely healthy spices that taste great!
On my off days I’ll get more adventurous and try new recipes. I cooked up some Paleo biscuits and gravy this weekend that were absolutely delicious! There is a Paleo version for everything you now enjoy. How awesome is that?! You can eat delicious foods that you have always enjoyed while simultaneously enhancing your long-term health.
